Grace and peace to you.  I hope that your summer was a gift full of blessings.  I am very much looking forward to September 8th, the start of the program year here at the church, and the fullness that comes with it.

We call it Rally Sunday.  It comes from the idea that we are rallying back after summer takes us in so many directions.  We rally to resume the Sunday morning habit of gathering at church for worship, learning, and fellowship.  We rally the choir to sing in the loft.  We rally the teachers and the students to resume Sunday School.  We rally the kinds of programs that bring us together to be church and to accept the costs and joys of discipleship.  We name September 8th Rally Sunday, to remember what we do.
