Sean Lewis is a church musician, organist and pianist, music director, and music educator with more than 30 years of deep and varied experience. He has served in a variety of denominations in Connecticut, including his previous position at the Brookfield Congregational Church. He is the Director of Music and Performing Arts at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury; is on the adjunct music faculty at Northwest Connecticut Community College; has been involved in countless musical theater productions and is pianist and singer for a Billy Joel tribute band.

In his own words:   Beyond music, I have a lot of interests that keep me busy. I love spending time with and taking care of my family, traveling, and visiting friends. I enjoy tackling DIY projects around my house and yard. I love planting and cultivating my vegetable garden, as it’s something that connects me to my grandparents (though my vegetables never come close to being what theirs were!), and it brings me joy to see it grow from seed to harvesting!

I will watch, play, and talk about all kinds of sports – golf, baseball, basketball, football, Formula 1, soccer, or rugby, to name a few. Growing up in Connecticut I am one of those Red Sox/NY Giants fans when it comes to MLB and NFL; I grew up in a split home – my dad a life-long Yankees fan and my mom loyal to the Red Sox. Needless to say, the events of the fall of 2004 brought me much joy! I love being on the golf course and I try to do so as much as possible this time of year, though given my scoring average, sometimes I’m not sure why I continue. I am a founding (fan) member and season ticket holder for the New England Free Jacks, the Major League Rugby team in Quincy, MA, and I love international rugby (Wales and Ireland especially).

When it comes to my musical tastes, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Marc Cohn, Bruce Hornsby, Howard Jones, John Pizzarelli, and Dianna Krall top my list, but the list is long and varied! Nothing compares to live music and being there in the moment. My favorite musical to have seen on Broadway is Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812(saw it three times in one summer); my favorite musical to have been music director and conductor for is In the Heights

I’m looking forward to my time with you in Stockbridge, getting to know more of you, and having you come to know more of me. See you in church!
