Serving the Church

Two women hugging

At the First Congregational Church, our caring extends inward, as well as outward. Teams of dedicated leaders help make our worship meaningful, keep our building sparkling, fuel our ministries of mercy and justice, and care for our community in times of both joy and sorrow.

The spiritual life of the congregation is enriched by the leadership of the Deacons, who support the Pastor by preparing the sanctuary for worship, providing liturgical leadership, assisting with special services such as baptisms and memorials, and assisting with attending to the spiritual welfare of the congregation.

Women’s Service League

With faithful dedication, the Women’s Service League fashions handmade crafts which are sold twice a year (at the summer fair and Holly Fair), all while engaging in lively conversation over coffee, tea and snacks. Proceeds from the group’s work go to support the church, the community, and the wider world. The Service League is open to women from the church and the community at large, and generally meets on Mondays from 10AM to 1PM. See the Events listing for specific dates.

Hearts & Hands Ministry

The Hearts & Hands Ministry serves as the heart and hands of Jesus to members of the congregation during times of both trial and celebration. A dedicated team of card-writers, meal-makers, ride-givers, and visitors offers their ministry of joy, hope, and healing. To join the team, please contact the church office.

Prayer Shawl Group

Our prayer shawl knitters engage monthly in a time of conversation and contemplation as they knit stitches of love, hope, and healing into prayer shawls which are given to people in times of trial or celebration. See the Events listing for dates and times.
