Year-Long Bible Studies to Begin

August 30, 2017

A recent study by Harvard University concluded that Bible study is the single activity that most advances a person’s faith and connection to both God and the church.  The Board of Christian Education is thrilled to provide two great opportunities for your engagement:
Disciples’ Bible Study: Thursdays 5:30 p.m.–7:00 p.m. starting September 14
This 24 week program will approach the Bible in canonical order (starting in Genesis and going through Revelation).  It features short daily readings, is supported by a participant guide, includes interactive videos and more. The goals of this study will be to not only study the content of the reading but to effectively develop reading skills for approaching the variety of types of biblical writings, to develop closer relationships with one another, to offer a safe environment for questions/exploration, to deepen our faith and connection to God and to have some fun!  Please contact Brent if you are interested/have questions or sign up in the JE Room.
Kerygma Bible Study: Mondays 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. starting September 11
This 34 week program will approach the Bible through thematic study bringing Hebrew Scripture into dialogue with New Testament Writings.  This ecumenical study strives to present a “Bible whole” approach that is Biblical in nature rather than emerging from creeds, literary analyses or historical frameworks.  It will encourage participants to learn and even memorize passages by rote to build a sense of Biblical literacy.  Running through it all, however, studying this book with a purpose of exploring its implications for believing and living today.  It is anticipated that those who participate in this study will have studied the Bible as a whole in the past or have significant Biblical study under their belt.  Please contact Jeremy Ridenour if you are interested or have questions.
