The Trinity Challenge

August 1, 2016

Sponsored by the Green Team
Did you know that carpooling and public transportation drastically reduce CO2 emissions by spreading them out over many riders?
The Green Team proudly challenges the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, UCC to care for our environment in a thoughtful, capable and all-inclusive way. This may not seem as though it will make any difference for our environment, but every little bit counts and that is the premise for this challenge.
For ten Sundays, beginning on July 3rd and ending on September 4th, the Green Team challenges all of us who attend this church to accomplish the following: for every three members in church, our goal is to have only one gas powered vehicle in the parking lot. We hope for ten weeks to achieve this goal of only one car in the parking lot for every three people.
What does this mean for you and your Sunday morning and how you arrive at church? We each will need to consider a few things that will factor in to your decision of how to get to church and to help the church reach this goal.
Ideas and suggestions:

  1. Carpool
  2. Add your name, address and email on sign-up sheet in JE room in order to compile a carpooling list
  3. Ride your bicycle
  4. Walk
  5. Use public transportation

Of course, there will be many factors for each of us to plan in order to make this a reality. At the end of this challenge, we will evaluate our efforts and our goal is to accomplish this challenge for at least seven out of the ten Sundays.
Many will be excited to know that we will all celebrate with a “green” inspired BBQ in the fall. And then on to a fall/winter challenge…
