All Saints Observance with Fauré Requiem – A Poignant and Meaningful Moment in the Life of Our Community

November 5, 2014

On Sunday, November 2, the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge presented the full Requiem setting composed by Gabriel Fauré, in the context of our All Saints Day observance during Sunday worship. Names were lifted up, candles lit, and tears shed as we paused to remember our dearly departed who have left this world for the next. As befits a day like All Saints, where we both mourn the loss of loved ones while claiming the hope of the resurrection, the choir and Minister of Music reclaimed the ancient practice of presenting the traditional Latin Requiem text in the context of worship. Plans are to make this an annual tradition on All Saints Day.
