The parable of the Prodigal Son is one of the most beloved of Jesus’ parables. In February, we will consider this parable through Rembrandt’s paining on the subject, and Henri Nouwen’s wonderful (and short!) book, The Return of the Prodigal Son.
Nouwen himself was profoundly moved by the painting and weaves in observations about it through his writing, grounded in solid Biblical scholarship.
We will spend time with the book and the painting (a large print will be in the room where the group will meet) and we will both draw some of our own meaning from examination and learn what Nouwen himself saw.  Don’t miss this chance to bring art and scripture together in a rich and meaningful way.
