Musicians Needed for the "Saints Band"

January 25, 2014

Our March 2, our Mardi Gras celebration begins with a parade through the sanctuary at the close of worship. And what’s a Mardi Gras parade without a band?
We are looking for musicians to join The Saints Band. We believe that every instrument has jazz in its soul and everyone has the soul of a saint. We believe in making a joyful noise and that bigger music is better music. We are an open and affirming jazz band; whoever you are and whatever you play, you are welcome here. We welcome you wherever you are on your musical journey, be you seasoned, stale, or novice, preteen or octogenarian.
The band plays one song, “When The Saints Go Marching In,” which has only 5 notes (on a good day). We have only one rehearsal, the morning of the party. The wind section needs some bolstering this year (we have a recorder and a tuba), but if you’d rather join the cello section, that’s OK. Bagpipes, didgeridoo, handbells, anyone can join. It’s loud, it’s fun, it only happens once a year. Contact Diane Piraino if you’d like to join in the fun: (413) 69802944 or pirainodiane@hotmail.com.
