Adult Faith Formation: This Fall Commit to Learning!

August 16, 2019

Wondering what to do this Fall when the kids go back to school, the leaves begin to tumble, and the days start to shorten? Why not consider one of our adult formation classes? Multiple studies confirm that Bible Studies and other learning opportunities are some of the best ways to deepen your faith and connect with other people from our church. Classes here at First Congregational Church welcome people who know a little or a lot, as well as people who have participated in dozens of studies, and those for whom this will be the first one.

There are two study opportunities this fall for adults.

The Gospel of Matthew: God With Us, a fourteen-week, or a seven-week, study beginning the week of September 9 and wrapping up mid-December.

We chose this study because of the many people in the church who love coming to worship, being part of this community, and have expressed a desire to learn more about some of the basic concepts of Christianity. This study, featuring short clips from some of the leading contemporary voices, explores central topics like God, Religion, Jesus, Salvation, Cross, Bible and Church. Led by Pastor Brent, it is designed to be open to all questions.

There are two sessions available for the Gospel of Matthew study. Session A: a fourteen-week study or Session B: a seven-week study.

Animate Faith: An eight-week study beginning September 25 and ending November 13.

We chose this particular study because, in Advent, the lectionary will switch over to providing Sunday readings primarily from Matthew. This will give us the chance to learn more about the Gospel and to prepare for the coming year. This study, led by Pastor Brent, should work for people of all abilities and backgrounds, so feel free to sign up!

Please contact Pastor Brent if you have any questions.
