Ubi Caritas: Sacred Choral Concert to Benefit the Food Pantry
- Date: Sunday, August 3, 2014
- Time: 5:00pm
- Location: Sanctuary
Ubi Caritas will be singing a concert of sacred choral music at the church again this summer to raise money for Berkshire County food pantries. This will be the third of three concerts that will take place over the course of the same afternoon starting at 1 PM at the First Congregational Williamstown and followed by a 3 PM concert at First Baptist Church in Pittsfield. There is no admission charge, but an offering will be taken to directly benefit our food pantry. Separate offerings at the other churches will support food pantries in Pittsfield and North Adams.
Ubi Caritas is a select a cappella chorus of 25 Berkshire County singers ages 16-26. The program of a cappella sacred masterpieces includes music by Durufle, Philip Stopford, Bob Chilcott, spirituals by Moses Hogan, hymn arrangements and gospel music. This is the third summer that this chorus has collaborated with Berkshire County churches to raise funds and awareness for local missions and the second year they have sung at our church.
This summer chorus of outstanding young singers from the Berkshires is supported by Berkshire Lyric and led by Berkshire Lyric artistic director and choir member Jack Brown. Berkshire Lyric celebrated its 51st Season this past June with a concert of Psalms at Tanglewood’s Seiji Ozawa Hall. In addition to Ubi Caritas, Berkshire Lyric includes the 90 voice Berkshire Lyric Chorus, and the Blafield Children’s Chorus.
