Summer Bible/Book Study: Silent Conversations
- Date: Thursday, August 28, 2014
- Time: 7:00pm
What would it be like to read the Bible in the company of Thomas Merton, C. S. Lewis, Julian of Norwich, and Desmond Tutu? What might John Wesley see in the Book of John that you might not? How would Mother Teresa react to a particular passage from Matthew? This summer we will read William Apel’s Silent Conversations: Reading the Bible in Good Company, gathering in conversation with saints and sages ranging from Martin Luther to Martin Luther King, Jr., and with the saints and sages of the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, to open our Bibles while a host of silent partners representing many of the great figures of Christianity are gathered at our side.
Each chapter in the book stands on its own, so you may attend some or all of the discussions. The schedule follows below.
