Special Coffee Hour with Leahey Farm

  • Date: Sunday, March 23, 2014
  • Time: 11:00am
  • Location: Jonathan Edwards Room

Leahey Farm LogoIn our ongoing efforts to engage in issues of sustainability, ecology and care, the Board of Mission & Action is excited to host Coffee Hour on the day that we bring Jim Antal to lead worship. At that coffee hour, we are pleased to host Philip and Jennifer Leahey who lovingly operate Leahey Farm in Lee. Leahey Farm has been family owned and operated since 1889. Nestled in the October Mountain region, it is one of the last small family farms left in Lee. The farm has produced and sold milk for more than 100 years and is now also producing pasture raised meats from Devon cattle and Tamworth hogs.
Leahey Farm, Lee, MassachusettsWe know that it sometimes can be hard to figure out how to introduce more sustainable choices into our day to day living. Jen and Phil will bring some samples from their farm for us to try to see just how good local can be. They also will make it easy by bringing order forms for their products to the church. (Leahey Farms provides the meat for Café Adam in Great Barrington as an idea of the quality of their products.) People will be able to place an order that will be delivered right here to the church. We hope to be able to provide a monthly delivery option. Jen and Phil have also expressed an interest in bringing our children up to the farm to learn more once all this snow goes away.
