Music on Main Presents YeeJin Yuk

  • Date: Saturday, June 9, 2018
  • Time: 4:00pm

Save the date in your calendar! A favorite artist of the Music on Main series will be returning to our stage…YeeJin Yuk!
On Sat., June 9 at 4pm, YeeJin will once again enthrall us with a piano performance featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, and Rochberg. During the reception following the concert, you will have an opportunity to visit with the artist and hear about his experiences at Rice University.

Pianist YeeJin Yuk is a rising junior at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He attends the Shepherd School of Music within Rice, but his home is a small farm in Harlemville, NY.

YeeJin started piano at the age of six with Mari Izumi at the Colburn Music School in Los Angeles, CA. He then studied with Jean Stackhouse at the Berkshire Music School and A. Ramon Rivera at the New England Conservatory since 2009 and 2011, respectively.

YeeJin is a multiple time first-prize winner at the BMS Merit Scholarship Competition; has won the Westfield Young Artists Piano Competition twice; and also placed second in the A. Ramon Rivera Piano Competition at Rivers for two consecutive years.

YeeJin has been awarded second prize at the Ruth Davidson Piano Competition held by NEPTA, and placed first in the Uel Wade Scholarship Competition in 2013 and 2015. He attended Greenwood Music Camp for four summers.

We are pleased to welcome YeeJin back to the Music on Main series. During the 2014/2015 season, we undertook a fundraising campaign to raise $12,000 to refurbish our rare and historic 1908 Steinway B grand piano. YeeJin performed a solo concert in January 2015, to assist us in our fundraising goal, and then returned to perform at our June 2015 Celebratory Concert where we unveiled the refurbished Steinway. In June of 2016 and 2017, YeeJin once again graced our stage – – and we are excited to welcome him back for June 2018!

This concert is open to the public. Suggested donation is $20 / $15 for seniors and students / children free.
