Music on Main is pleased to present NYC trio Eight Strings & a Whistle in an afternoon concert of music for flute, viola and cello.
Eight Strings & a Whistle has been captivating audiences throughout the United States since 1998. A cutting edge presence, Eight Strings & a Whistle is committed to presenting works and expanding the repertoire for the unique combination of flute, viola and cello. The Trio has championed Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire and collaborates regularly with living composers, premiering and performing their pieces throughout the concert season.
The program will include Albert Roussel’s Trio, Op. 40 and Edmund Cionek’s Bad Robots, both from the trio’s recent release, Albert’s Window. Selections by Bartok, Schubert and Robert Davidson will also be performed.
Eight Strings & a Whistle’s debut album, Albert’s Window, was released on Ravello Records in November 2015. Featured in Culture Catch’s Best Classical Albums of 2015, the recording includes music composed for Eight Strings & a Whistle by Edmund Cionek and Martin Rokeach, as well as Peter Jona Korn’s Aloysia Serenade, Op. 19 and Albert Roussel’s Trio, Op. 40.
