Music on Main presents its fourth and final concert of the season with “An A Cappella Extravaganza” at 3PM on Saturday, May 10th. Vocal groups Strike a Chord and Tapestry will share the concert, presenting a cappella music from two distinct traditions. Strike A Chord, a coed a cappella group, will perform an eclectic mix of musical genres: show tunes, doo-wop, pop, funk, and gospel, with some comedy tossed in between tunes. Their repertoire includes songs from the 40’s to present day, with unique arrangements and fresh interpretations. They are based out of Chicopee, MA, and members come from Eastern NY, CT, Northampton, and central MA. Their long time leader and arranger is Catherine Schane-Lydon, our new Minister of Music.
Tapestry is a select vocal ensemble made up of students from Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington. They will present a program of Renaissance madrigals including music of John Dowland, John Wilbye, Orlando di Lasso, Claudio Monteverdi, Pierre Certon and others. The group is led by Jack Brown of the Simon’s Rock music faculty. Jack is also a long-time member of our choir, teaches at The Hotchkiss School and is the Artistic Director of Berkshire Lyric.

A free will offering will be taken to benefit the Music Ministry at the church.
